International Workshops

JAPAN

The Faraday team conducts ongoing live webcasts of hands-on science skill development workshops connecting with Trim Park locations in Tokyo where hands-on learning experiences are created for local Japanese families.

SAUDI ARABIA

A Faraday booth at the International Science Festival in Riyadh encouraged participants to “Learn To Think As A Scientist.” Over 120,000 Saudis visited the festival sponsored by the King’s Foundation for Creativity and Giftedness during four days in 2015. The Faraday Team created an exciting demonstration on making mini rocket fuel formulation labs.  The tiny rockets were launched and bounced off the exhibition hall ceiling, helping to raise the roof for science!

UK/SCOTLAND

In September 2014 Faraday’s founder, Jake Jacobs, opened the Orkney International Science Festival, located in the beautiful far north islands of Scotland. In addition to presenting at the Festival, he brought his enthusiasm for learning-by-doing to local schools with hands-on science activities for students.

His visit to Orkney was sponsored by Ace Hardware, an American retailer-owned cooperative group with stores in over 60 countries. The company is one of the members of a group of organisations developing new initiatives in teaching science in informal settings.

During his UK visit, Jake also visited the Royal Institution of Great Britain in a quest to strengthen relationships between US and UK science communicators.

Faraday Studio previously partnered with The Royal Institution of Great Britain and NASA in a live webcast with schools in England and the US. Following a lecture by Dr. Kevin Fong on “Living in Space” and discussions with NASA scientists about growing food and living on Mars, Jake presented hands-on activities related to the topic from the Studio.

SOUTH KOREA

The Faraday Team manned a booth and made live presentations in Seoul at the South Korean Science Festival at Coex Center.   The highlight was Jake’s presentation entitled “Lucky Accidents, Great Discoveries, and the Prepared Mind.”

MEXICO

Jake was the keynote speaker at Fort Hays State University Hispanic College Institute in Kansas where Hispanic students visiting the US learn about STEM education possibilities. The presentation was on how to sharpen skills needed for the science process.
